In Loving Memory Of...

Nancy M. Carroll

Nancy M. (Peterson) Carroll, 87, of Findlay went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at her residence. Nancy was born on July 22, 1925 in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania to Andrew and Mina Peterson. Nancy graduated from Practical Bible Training Institute in New York. Nancy’s occupations included missionary work at Bethel Children’s Home in Kentucky, secretary, and most importantly a pastor’s wife for over 50 years in churches in West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. Nancy enjoyed teaching children’s Bible classes, organizing special ladies’ meetings, and visiting people with her husband. Nancy was known for sending cards and notes of encouragement. One of her greatest gifts was hospitality and she enjoyed having guests in her home. Nancy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Findlay, and we appreciate their kindness and support.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 61 years, whom she married on August 11, 1951, Randolph Carroll Jr.; children, Janet (Mark) Blackburn, of Galena, Ohio, Joyce (Jay) Anderson, of Findlay, Ohio, Jayne (Jeff) Reason, of Nova Scotia, and Jim (Diana) Carroll, of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Andrew Peterson; her beloved sister, Isobel Maxim; and an infant granddaughter, Diana Reason

Nancy is loved and will be missed by her family and many friends. “When we all get to Heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be”

Our love to the Carroll family. We pray God’s peace and blessing for you. Preacher and Mrs. Carroll greatly influenced Barbara during her teenage years, bringing her to salvation in Christ and guiding her to ABC and the mission field. That was in Dixie, WV at their first pastorate. We thank God for their wonderful example to us. We rejoice that Nancy is with the Lord and we will see her there someday.

We will be praying for Randy with the loss of his helpmate of so many years.. It was blessing to know both Nancy and Randy as a friend and Pastor. Our love and Condolences to Randy and the Carroll family. We sorrow, but not as those who have no hope. Knowing Randy and Nancy will always be a cherished relationship of our lives. Nancy is home, and some day we’ll all be home with her. “What a day of rejoicing that will be,when we all see Jesus: we’ll sing and shout the victory.”

  7. To all the Carroll Family ~ My prayers are with each one of you in the homegoing of Nancy. I feel very fortunate to have known Nancy and the beautiful person she was for all these years. Nancy loved everyone and had such an outgoing spirt about her in everything she did. She will be sadly missed by all but I know she is now rejoicing up in Heaven and in a much better place.

      Mrs. Wynn,
Not sure if you heard that the note you wrote Mom (I think it was a few months ago) was read at Mom’s funeral by Diana Carroll. We thought it would show a side of Mom that folks around here didn’t know (her love of Ladies Spectacular meetings, fun-loving, etc.)

We did not have the honor of knowing Mrs. Carroll but we viewed what a loving and devoted mother she was through her treasured daughter, Janet Blackburn, who is a jewel in the crown of her mother’s legacy. Nancy’s children and grandchildren are monuments to her memory and they attest to a life of kindness and devoted service to our Lord. The family’s loss is heaven’s gain.

I will never forget the times spent with Mrs Carroll. Her converstaton with me about her family and how she wanted to teach her children to love God and live for him. A few years ago she shared with me if God would let her, she wanted to teach her children how to die in Jesus. Just a few months ago while sitting in the nursing home visiting with Mrs Carroll was the most precious, watching her children and husband care for her. Her sweet smile and gentle response to her family is a lesson I will never forget. The song I can hear her singing is, “Face to Face with Christ my Savior”.
Love you Mrs Carroll and will miss you.

Dear family of Nancy, I know Nancy will be greatly missed. When you said “Goodbye” to her over here, loved ones were saying “Here she comes” over there. Psalm 116:15. A few years ago Pastor Carroll & Nancy were passing through our town and Nancy phoned me and she asked me if I knew who it was? I knew right away by her voice.:)Just as we will know our Saviour’s voice when he calls us home one day. After his resurrection, in the garden, Mary Magdalene was weeping because she thought someone had taken his body, she did not know where they had laid him. She saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was him. Until he spoke and said “Mary” She knew his voice! Our prayers are with you all. I Thess.4:13-18.

  12. Pastor Carroll and Family:

I knew Pastor and Mrs. Carroll at Wilson, NC while they were pastor of Tabernacle Baptit Church. I counted them to be a fine family. I appreciate the friendship that continued through the years. My wife and I would like to express our condolences and our sorrow on the death of God’s precious saint, Nancy Carroll. We sorrow, but one day on the morrow we shall see her again face to face with Christ our Saviour and Oh What a Day that will be.

God bless you is our prayer,

We want to express our hears and love to Pastor Randy Carroll and family on the death of Nancy. We will long remember the precious friendship we have shared since meeting them many years ago when Pastor Randy was pastor of Marcus Hook Baptist Church in Linwood, PA. With deep gratitude to the Lord we express our hearts and sympothy to Pastor Randy and the family. We all who love the LORD know that Namcy is well, strong and rejoicing, it is we who mourn, but we trust all of the family knows the comfort of the LORD. May the powerful PRESENCE of the Lord be in the service tomorrow. We love you and wish we could be there with you to rejoice in a life well lived.

  14. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Hayden wish to send their heartfelt sympathy to the Carroll family. We are praying for your family at this time of great loss.

Dear Joyce, As my Father in-law said just 2 weeks ago, he couldn’t wait to get to “The House”! And there they are celebrating our Lord’s Birthday together with Him. What better time of year for two people who have served so faithfully. I didn’t know your mother, but i know you, and you are so sweet, I know she was also. I know we miss them both so terribly but that is just us selfish humans. Remember the laughter, we have laughed over so many crazy things that has happened over the years. I think we have laughed more lately than in a long time.

Dear Pastor and family. We have never had a Pastor and ‘First Lady’ like Randy and Nancy. Randy was the best preacher we have ever had. Randy and Nancy were not just ‘The preacher and his wife’, they were our dear friends. They have stayed in our home and we have shared pictures for years of our families and especially our grandchildren. Nancy was so proud of her grand and great grand children. Nancy and I sat side-by-side in the choir and shared a few pokes in the ribs and silent looks at one another. She was a happy joyful person and loved to laugh. If you knew her well then you knew she could be a ‘stinker’ at times. That smile would come across her face and you knew she was thinking about something. We would sit together at ballgames at Wilson Christian Academy. Nancy said it was hard for a pastor and pastor’s wife to have close friends for many reasons, but we were as close as you could get. Nancy raised four wonderful children. I will miss her so much here on earth, but I have the assurance that one day we will see each again in Heaven and maybe even sit side-by-side in the Heavenly Choir. Our love to “Our Pastor, Randy” and you dear children. “God’s grace is sufficient.” With love and wonderful memories, Lynn & Judy Doshier, Decatur, AL
