Tommie E. Schultz American Veteran

Tommie E. Schultz, 64, of Findlay passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Tommie was born on January 31, 1948 in Fostoria, Ohio to Eugene and Dorothy (Hartman) Schultz. Tommie was raised by his mother and step-father William Olen Eskers. Tommie served his country in the Unite States Air Force for over 20 years before retiring as a Master Sergeant. Tommie went on to work as a sheet metal fabricator for Shucks Inc. for 18 years. Tommie was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a life member of the DAV, VFW, the AMVETS, the Fostoria American Legion, and served as Vice -Commander and Honor Guard of the VFW in Fostoria. Tommie was an all around sports fan. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, softball, and racket ball. Tommie coached youth soccer, baseball, and bowling, and was a Cub Scout leader. Tommie also coached young miss softball, and was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts, and 4H for many years. Later in life Tommie enjoyed traveling, going to flea markets, going to county fairs, and  had a great passion for cooking, baking, and spending time with his family.

Tommie is survived by his wife of 43 years Sharon (Covey) Schultz; son, Ty (Debbie) Schultz; granddaughter, Lacie Schultz; sisters, Jackie Tobin, Cindy Schultz, and Patricia (Steve) Brown; mother-in-law, Helen McCann; sister-in-law, Karen (Michael) Collins; and many nieces and nephews. Tommie was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Orville Covey; and nephew, Dale “Robbie” Abbott.

Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Michael Spann officiating.  Burial will follow at Trinity Baptist Cemetery with the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad performing full military rites. Memorial contribution’s in Tommie’s  name may be made to the Blanchard Valley Health Foundation.

    Sharon,Ty,Lacie-I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I coached Lacie in Young miss softball and remember Tommie so well. He was such a great help and inspiration to the girls. He was a good man!May he rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

    Sharon our prayers go to you and your family.Tom was a dear friend we had a lot of fun growing up together.We went fishing,water sking and just good times.He was the one who talked me in to joining the Air Force.He will be deeply missed.May God Bless
