Armando Hernandez, 64, of Findlay, passed away on September 9, 2019. He was born to the late Cipriano and Eloisa (Mendez) Hernandez in San Antonio, Texas on November 20, 1954. On June 11, 1985, Armando was united in marriage to Diane Mates.
Armando was a Findlay High School graduate. He joined the US Marines in 1972, serving in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1976. He was also in the Army Reserves where he served in Operation Desert Storm. Armando was a member of the Koh Tang/Mayaguez Veterans Organization, AMVETS, VFW, American Legion, and the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
Armando is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Diane; sons, Mario (Cynthia) Hernandez of Findlay, Brandon (Megan) Hernandez of Columbus; and daughter, Brittany Hernandez of Columbus. Grandfather to Mario Hernandez II and Myah Hernandez, both of Findlay; and great-grandfather to Mateo Hernandez of Findlay. He is also survived by his brothers, Ricardo (Diamond) Hernandez of Van Buren, Robert Menis of Spain, and Dan Desilva of Findlay; sisters, Rose (Jesse) Candia of Findlay, Anita (Ken) Gutierrez of Southgate, MI, Sandra Hernandez of Savannah, GA; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Armando was preceded in death by a brother, Cipriano Hernandez Jr.; and sister, Tina Chavez.
Friends and family may visit on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at conclusion of visitation on Thursday in the funeral home with Monsignor Michael Hohenbrink as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery with the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad performing full military rites. Memorial contributions in Armando’s name may be made to Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
