Michael B. Bennett

Michael Bartlett Bennett, 78, of Findlay, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side on January 1, 2020 in the comfort of his home. He was born February 26, 1941 in Jamaica, Long Island, New York to the late Donald Bennett and Ruth Wylie (Harris) Bennett-Shoemaker.

Michael graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in June 1963 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Bell Aerosystems in Niagara Falls, New York until October 1964 in the rocket test department. Michael worked as a mechanical Engineer for over 28 years at the E.I. DuPont De Nemours and Company, Spruance Plant, in Richmond, Virginia. He was assigned to Works Engineering, Kevlar, Nylon and Tyvek groups during his career there. After moving to Findlay he worked as a mechanical engineer for OHM Corp., Durez Div. of Occidental Chemical in Kenton, and Timed Services in Mansfield. Michael served on Vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Chester, Virginia and on the Vestry of Trinity Episcopal after coming to Findlay. He also worked as a tutor for Read for Life in Findlay as well as on the sorting/loading crew at Chopin Hall. He served in Civitan as candy box chair and Tomasters since 2000.

Michael is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Tremayne; children, Joyce B. Scott of Waynesboro, VA, and First SGT. Michael B. Bennett (Kris) of Richmond, IN; step-children, Annie (Andrew) Insley of New Riegel, Brent Reinhart of Alvada, Curtis Reinhart (Stephanie) of Bloomdale; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Polly Campenni (Tom) of Stuart, FL; and a brother, Mark Shoemaker (Joyce Neal) of Albany, GA. Michael was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Ann Napotnik in May 1997; and a grandson, Michael C. Bennett in December 2018.

A Memorial Service for Michael will be held Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 128 West Hardin Street, Findlay, Ohio 45840. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Building Fund or Chopin Hall, or to Cancer Patient Services.
