Alan Lee Holub, 75, of Toledo/Holland, Ohio passed away peacefully at Brookdale of Bowling Green, Friday, June 19, 2026.
He was born February 18, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to George and Marie (Smrt) Holub. He graduated from Proviso West High School in Hillside, IL where he played football, basketball, baseball, and played the tuba in the marching band. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Northern Colorado in 1974. Alan also played a year of college football. After college, Alan spent a year living in Montana and eventually moved to Ohio in 1975.
Alan was charismatic and an excellent conversationalist; and thus, he experienced a successful career in sales and marketing, retiring from the Huntsman Chemical Corp out of Houston, Texas in 2016. His children remember their dad as spending countless hours tracking the stock market, watching financial programs and meticulously jotting notes in his notebooks. His curiosity, discipline, and enthusiasm for investing were hallmarks of who he is.
Alan enjoyed the Chicago Bears, Michigan Wolverines, and watching the Chicago Bulls win championships in the early 90s. He also had season tickets to the Cleveland Browns games where he enjoyed watching and spending time with his family. Alan also enjoyed traveling with his family and went on many vacations all over the United States from California, Colorado, Arizona, Florida and his last vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Alan also loved Las Vegas and went several times a year to gamble and meet his brother Dennis and his wife Marla. Alan loved good cocktails and was always ready to have a good time, especially at Loma Lindas. Food and going out to dinner with his family was something he enjoyed weekly. We will forever cherish his goofy personality, outgoing spirit, and giving heart. He was truly one of kind.
Those left behind to cherish Alan’s memory are his children, Lauren Holub, Lesley (Patrick) Rohrbaugh, Marc (Ashley) Holub; ex-wife, Wendy Holub; and grandchildren whom he was known as Papa, Brynne Holub-Roth, Ava Rohrbaugh, Arlo Holub, and Brayden Rohrbaugh.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie; and his brother, Dennis Holub.
There will be a Celebration of Life at later date in July that will be posted by family.
The family would like to thank Brookdale of Bowling Green for the last two years and Bridge Hospice for the end-of-life care given to our Dad.
HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500), is honored to serve Alan’s family.
