Albert Charles Dixie, 74 of Findlay, passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, following a lengthy illness.

Albert was born July 15, 1947, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Julia Morton (Irvin) and John Lapsley Sr. He was educated at Bowling Green State University, where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He later returned to BGSU and obtained his master’s degree in Social Work. He had a lengthy and productive career at Honeywell (formerly known as Autolite/Ford/Bendix/Allied), beginning in September, 1965, where he became general foreman until he retired 34 years later in 1999. Albert was a veteran and served in U.S. Army for nine years.

Albert is survived by his wife, Mary Buckmon-Dixie; daughter, Yolanda (Steve) Dixie-Basham; son, Daniel Dixie; ex-wife, Elaine Dixie; six sisters, Barbara (Dixie) Scott, Nina Charlton, Dorothy Lapsley-Brooks, Ollie Sullivan-Fowlkes, Janice Warfield-Suggs, and Freda Lapsley-Lewis; five brothers, Duane (Barbara) Jackson, JC Lapsley, Alfred Lapsley, Jerry Lapsley, and Phillip Lapsley; and two grandchildren that he was very proud of and held a very special place in his heart, Brieanna Johnson and Kyana Dixie.

Albert is preceded in death by his mother, Julia Morton; father, John Lapsley Sr.; grandmother, Georgia Dixie; grandfather, Curtis Dixie Sr.; three brothers Walter Jackson, Ocie Turner, and John Lapsley Jr.; and sister, Cynthia Lapsley-Woods.

A graveside service will be 12 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia. The grave site is located at Garden of Prayer, Block 180, Lot B, grave 3. The Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad will perform full military rites.

A celebration of life for Albert will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at Fostoria City Park, 417 N. Vine St., Fostoria, 44830. Please bring a covered dish and leave your foil at home (joking).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio.
