Carol Ann Johnson, 81, of Arcadia, joined our Lord and Savior on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 8:15 p.m. at Bridge Hospice Care Center. She was born on September 20, 1934 to Charles A. and Mildred M. Cole. Wife to Grant W. Johnson who preceded her in death, and endearing mother to Kim Cooper, Guy (Pam) Johnson and Shelly (Jim) Johnson-Fox all of Arcadia. Carol leaves behind sister, Barb (Don) Sherman of Findlay. Being one of the youngest children of a simple farming family, Carol shared countless escapades with her siblings and carried that love of life's simple pleasures with her always, nurturing that love in her children and grandchildren by sharing her fondness for perennial flower gardening, antiquing and family gatherings. A graduate of Vanlue's Class of '52, Carol eventually moved to San Bernardino, California and it was there that she married Grant on April 17, 1955. Carol enjoyed many years of employment as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone, Blanchard Valley Hospital and Buckeye Communications. She worked in food service at the former Cardinal Village and as a laborer at GSW. A bit later in life, Carol began developing her skills on the banjo, fiddle, mandolin and dulcimer. Her genuine appreciation of old time and Bluegrass music led to many friendships through the years. She valued those times spent casually jammin' and entertaining at local events. She was an early member of the Dulcimer Gatherin', and a current member of the Back Porch String Band, both of Findlay. Carol was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arcadia and most recently attended Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Value. She is surrounded in heaven by brothers and sisters; Betty (Charlie) Fields, Mark (Crystal) Cole, John (Jean) Cole, Sara (Robert) Tong, Doris (Gerald) Cotter, Helen (Russell) Walters, Max (Esther) Cole, and Norman "Gus" Cole. Carol will be remembered as fun-loving grandmother to Nicole Decker, Mackenzie Wilson, Meghan and Garrett Cooper, Monica, Brittany, and Gabe Johnson, James, Luke and Regina Fox, admired grandmother to Lisa Douthitt, and nurturing "GG" to Lakelyn, Lilli, Lliam, Grady and Alivia. Friends and family may visit on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Noel officiating. Interment will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery.
