Carole M. (Balaschak) Hornicak

Mrs. Carole Marie (Balaschak) Hornicak passed peacefully on July 11 at Birchaven Village Home in Findlay, Ohio.

Carole was born May 4, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John and Mary (Smerigan) Balaschak.

One of the happiest days of Carole’s life was when she married her beloved husband Dennis on October 13, 1973. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Parish. She worked as a paraprofessional at Blanchard Valley Center until her retirement. Following her retirement, Carole served as a paraprofessional at St. Michael’s School until 2021.

Carole is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Dennis J. Hornicak; her son Andrew John Hornicak of Onsted, Michigan; daughter, Denise Treadway of Troy, Ohio; grandchildren, Gabriel Watkins, Moire Pemberton, Andrew James Hornicak, William and Christina Treadway. She is also survived by her brother, Roger Balaschak of Pittsburgh, PA, and sister, Shirley (Charles) Owens of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Carole in death were her parents John and Mary Balaschak and her brother Robert Balaschak.

A mass of intention will be said for Carole on Saturday, August 17 at 8 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, East Campus. A celebration of life will be held at her family home at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation in honor of Carole can be made to the Humane Society and SPCA of Hancock County.
