Daryl was born to the late William M. and Velma B. (Oman) Bushong on February 27, 1938. He married his wife, Hazel Delores Nuzum, on June 23, 1957, and she survives. Together, they have one daughter, Charlotte K. (Mark) Saltzman of Waverly, Ohio, and two sons, David Daryl (Wanda) Bushong and Paul M. Bushong, both of Mt. Blanchard. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Amanda and Caleb Saltzman, Jodi, Jena, and Joshua Bushong, and two sisters-in-law, Donna Bushong and Sharon Nuzum.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Darwin; his younger brother, Nial Bushong; sister, Doneeta Bishop; brother-in-law, Arlo Bishop; and sister-in-law, Ruthann Bushong.
Daryl was a lifelong farmer and active in his community. He was elected as President of the Hancock County Farm Bureau and was an Amanda Township Trustee for over 18 years. His biggest passion was serving the Lord and serving the church. Daryl was a devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene, acting as Sunday School Superintendent and Young Peoples President for many years. Around the farm, he had a remarkable knack for repairing almost any piece of equipment, often using little more than limited tools and parts salvaged from the junk pile. Daryl loved hunting, fishing, and most of all, his family.
