Daryl Leon Ewing, 89, of Leipsic, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at The Meadows of Leipsic.

He was born October 15, 1936, in McComb, Ohio, to Loren C. and Lena M. (Taylor) Ewing and was raised in McComb.

Daryl was a graduate of McComb High School. In 1954, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army. After being discharged from the army he went to work for the U.S Government in Communications Intelligence Agency. His military career took him around the world, and he lived overseas in several different countries throughout his career. Following his retirement, Daryl purchased a home on Lake Keowee in Seneca, South Carolina, where he lived for more than 35 years. He treasured his time there and the memories he made along the way. His great-grandsons, Nolan and Jonah, lovingly called him “OPa,” the German word for grandpa.

Those left behind are Daryl’s children, Jeff (Kim) Ewing of McComb, and Brad Ewing of Reston, VA; his grandchildren, Betsy (Nick) Conrad of McComb, Luke (Laura) Ewing of Van Buren, Sara (Jimmy) Klay of McComb, Derek (Ashlee) Gardner of Middletown, VA, and Bailey Ewing (Stephan Hill) of Laurel, MD; and great-grandchildren; Lilly Conrad, Abby Conrad, Ben Ewing, Bella Ewing, Nolan Klay, Jonah Klay, Kenlee Gardner, Rylee Gardner, and Hendrix Hill.

Daryl was preceded her in death by his sisters, Marilyn Leonard, and Carolyn Helviogt; and great-grandchildren, Violet and Harrison Klay.

Daryl’s family will honor his memory with a burial at McComb Union Cemetery at a later date. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with arrangements.
