David Arthur Cusac, 83, of Findlay, passed away in the comfort of his home on February 9, 2023. He was born September 17, 1939, in Putnam County to John and Agnes (Myers) Cusac. Dave married Wanda Firestine on June 9, 1984 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
A 1957 graduate of Leipsic High School, Dave played football, ran track, and belonged to the Future Farmers’ Association. As a youth, he was in 4-H for six years in the Van Buren Workers. Upon graduation, Dave proudly served his country in the Navy from 1957-1963. He served aboard the ship USS Mississinewa AO 144 and was stationed in Naples, Italy.
Dave worked at Dow Chemical, retiring in 1989 after 28 years of service. He was also a retired farmer from Blanchard Township, raising beef cattle. He was the owner of D&W Storage Facilities and after retirement was employed by Professional Appraisal Services. He drove sprint race cars for ten years from 1960 to 1970. He was a Junior Achievement advisor for four years. Dave was a lifelong Red Cross blood donor, donating 13 gallons of blood. He served on the Republican Central Committee for years and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Dave was also a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. He enjoyed Civil War history, watching OSU football and NASCAR and was a dog lover. He also enjoyed traveling with Wanda to Ireland, Beijing, China, Athens, Greece, and Civil War battlefields in the United States. Dave received the Pioneer of Hancock County Award for proving a descendent living in Hancock County in 1845, with ancestor Daniel Cusac.
Dave is survived by his wife, Wanda; siblings, Bernadine Kline of Ottawa, and Don (Judy) Cusac of Pandora. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Cusac; and sister, Ramona Newell of McComb.

Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday, February 17, 2023, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay (419-422-1500). Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m. with an hour visitation beforehand, Pastor Kelly Sterling officiating. Interment will follow in McComb Union Cemetery with the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad conducting full military rites. Memorial contributions in Dave’s name may be made to Hancock Humane Society, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, or Flag City Honor Flight.
