David L. Thomas

David L. Thomas, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019. He was born on July 23, 1937 in Vanlue, Ohio to Merle and Etta Thomas. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 43 years, Jean Thomas. On August 26, 1972, they were united in marriage and were blessed with three daughters who survive, Beth (Leonard) Lundquist of Charleston, SC, Lisa Snyder and Sonya Snyder, both of Findlay. David had three grandchildren whom he adored and left a lasting impact on, Tyler Gutierrez and Krista (John) Schaaf of Findlay, and Marybeth Lundquist of Houston, TX. In October 2017, David became a Great-grandfather to Griffin Schaaf, who brought him much joy. David's beloved niece Patty Berger and her husband Bill were a big support to David and he was very grateful for the both of them. In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by six siblings, Carroll (Ruth) Thomas, Bebe Thomas, Ardith (Ralph) Feil, Audra (Jess) Silva and Virginia (John) Chapin. David was a graduate of both Vanlue High School and Ohio Northern University. After college, David spent two years serving his country in the United States Army, and then began a 30 year career with International Harvester Company. Following retirement, David worked at J.R. Case in Upper Sandusky as their office manager. David was an avid reader, golfer and dedicated University of Findlay basketball fan. He was a patron of the Fort Findlay Playhouse and a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he attended Sunday school, and had many dear friends. Friends and family may visit on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22nd at Trinity Lutheran Church, 935 W. Bigelow Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840, with Pastor Will Stenke officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions in David's name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
