Devon B. Ammons

Devon Benner Ammons, 43, of Findlay, passed away unexpectedly from injuries sustained in a car accident on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

He was born on November 3, 1982, in Findlay, Ohio. As a child, Devon, known affectionately to many as “Deevo,” was kind, sensitive, and creative. He loved building and creating things, excelled academically as a straight-A student, and participated in youth baseball, football, and basketball. In his early teens, he was baptized and dedicated his life to the Lord. During high school, he was a member of the VIP Freshman Show Choir and graduated from Findlay High School in 2001.

Throughout his life, Deevo built countless friendships through his work in the food service industry, including positions at Cheddar’s, Fins Seafood & Grille, and Logan’s Irish Pub. For nearly the last two years of his life, he proudly worked for Coca-Cola. No matter where he went, Deevo never met a stranger. He had a remarkable gift for conversation, a contagious laugh, and an ability to make every person he encountered feel welcome and valued.

A perfectionist by nature, Deevo believed in doing things the right way. He loved all kinds of music and could light up the room with his karaoke performances. He carried a swagger all his own and possessed a unique sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. Thoughtful and generous, he gave gifts from the heart, and somehow they were always exactly right.

One of the adventures he cherished most was spending three years in Colorado with his cousin Brandon, where he helped open a new Cheddar’s restaurant in Colorado Springs. He often spoke of the breathtaking beauty of God’s creation that surrounded him there and the gratitude he felt for experiencing it each day.

Deevo was an avid disc golfer who loved exploring new courses. He was a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Browns, and The Ohio State Buckeyes, and he enjoyed participating in fantasy baseball leagues. He could often be found laughing loudly while watching his favorite television show, South Park, which never failed to entertain him.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Thomas and Jennifer (Benner) Mowery; his brothers, Damon (Stacy) Ammons and their children, Aubry and Archer, and Drew (Mackenzi) Mowery and their children, Elowen and Orson; his grandparents, Harold and Dorothy Mowery; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved grandparents, Walter and Florence Benner; his uncle, Walt Benner Jr.; and his cousins, Chad Benner and Christian Benner.

Deevo will be remembered for his loving heart, unforgettable personality, infectious laughter, and the best hugs known to man. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved him, his memory will continue to bring smiles, stories, and comfort for years to come.

Friends and family may visit from 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2026, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, with a Celebration of Deevo’s Life beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dutch VanderVlucht presiding. All visitations and services will be at NEW LIFE ASSEMBLY OF GOD, 3120 Norcrest St., Findlay.
