Donald Waaland, 70, of Findlay, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.
He was born in Findlay to Donald Waaland Sr. and Bonnie Lou Lloyd.
Don, along with his father, owned and operated a sports store in Findlay known as Waaland & Sons sporting goods, later known as Bonus Sports Specialties. In younger years, Don played slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball. He was also an avid bowler as well as a long-time member of Findlay Jaycees. Don recently retired as a carrier from The Courier. In recent years, he enjoyed golfing with his two brothers and his best friends on a weekly basis. In past years, Don also enjoyed traveling to northern Michigan to visit his daughter and family. He was a wonderful caregiver for his mother, a “green thumb” gardener, and a man of faith.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Crystalyn (Russell) Reed of Beulah, Michigan; brothers, Eliot (Jean) Waaland of Findlay and Dwight (Lisa) Waaland of Ostrander; sister, Marjorie (Steve) Knox of Findlay; granddaughter Tayler Reed of Smyrna, Tennessee; nieces and nephew, Katiey McDaniel, Melissa Waaland, and Joe Waaland; four great-nieces; and a great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Sr.
