Doris L. Moore

Doris Lavelle (Wilson) Moore, 96, of Findlay, passed away November 17, 2016 at The Heritage Manor. She was born on October 18, 1920 in Hancock County to the late Dow L. and Blanche (Cochran) Wilson. Doris married Scott C. Moore on December 20, 1941 and he preceded her in death on February 7, 1993. Doris was co-owner of Cappy's Dress Shop from 1962 - 1975, a Blue Bird and Camp Fire leader, and a member of First Christian Church. She volunteered at Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary and at Hancock Christian Clearing House. Doris lovingly nurtured her roses, enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris is survived by her daughters, Annabelle Adrian of Findlay, OH, Cheryl (John) Chalmers of Auburn, IN, and Doris (Ron) Houck of Findlay, OH; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by sisters, Lola Jimison, Rheta DePuy; and her good friends, Bonnie Routson, and Ellie Weis. In addition to her parents, and husband, Doris was preceded in death by a sister, Florence DePuy; and brothers, Donald, Dane, Dale, and Dow Wilson Jr. An evening viewing for extended family will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A formal gathering will be held on Wednesday, November 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by procession to Benton Ridge Cemetery for a ceremonial graveside service at 11 a.m. Pastor Rick Pulling will preside the service. Memorial contributions in Doris's name may be made to the Hancock County Right to Life or Hancock Christian Clearing House or the Lupus Foundation of America or to the Charity of the Donor's choice.
