Dudley (Doug) Snyder 73, of Findlay passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 at his residence. Doug was born on October 15, 1947 to Maxwell and Treva (Cunningham) Snyder in Fostoria, Ohio. He married Deborah Payne on February 2, 1974.

Doug graduated from Fostoria High School in 1965 and from Tiffin University in 1969. He then started his career with Union Carbide in Fostoria. He was transferred to Puerto Rico for four years before heading to the corporate office in Danbury, CT. Doug retired from UCAR as corporate controller. He was very musically inclined and played a total of six different instruments including the organ for high school assemblies. He was a member of the rock band called “The Agents” and was proud to be an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. In his younger years, he was a member of the Indian Guides. While living in New Milford, CT he was active in the New Milford United Methodist Church as a trustee, a board member of the United Way, and loved building houses through Habitat for Humanity.

Doug always had a great sense of humor that everyone loved. He loved going to auctions, traveling, especially to St. Maarten, snorkeling, coin collecting, spending time at the casinos, TV, going to Lakeside and sharing his Victorian home on South Main St. with the community. He loved eating at area restaurants, especially with his class mates and friends. Doug was very well known by owners and staff for his wit and humor.

Doug was active at every church he attended on the financial committees. Since moving back to Ohio, he’s been a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church.

Doug is survived by his wife, Deborah; sister, Lou Wave (Michael) Knecht, Kensington, MD and brother-in-law, Browning Payne, of Fostoria, Ohio; sister-in-law, Suzanne Payne, of University Place, WA; nephews and nieces, Joe and Sam Knecht, Michael Payne, Amy St. Pierre, Ellen Young, and Liann (Phil) Arnold; great-nephews, Ian and Avry Young and Clay and Carter St. Pierre.

A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2021 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 120 W. Sandusky St., Findlay (main entrance on Crawford St.). Doug’s celebration will be live streamed at: (www.saumcfindlay.org). The family asks that all attending wear masks. His final resting place will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, OH. A luncheon will follow in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions in Doug’s name may be made to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church or to Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
