Eileen Louise Firestine, 93, of Findlay, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She was born on January 14, 1923 to the late A. Albert and Bessie (Brandeberry) Scarr. Louise married C. Eugene "Gene" Firestine on February 25, 1944 in Van Buren, OH and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2003.
Louise graduated from Van Buren High School in 1940. She was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans 1861 - 1865 Tent 152 Marietta Mungen. Her grandfather, John C. Brandeberry was a member of the 144 OVI. She was a former member of Van Buren United Methodist Church. Louise worked at Ohio Oil, RCA, Landmark, and Hancock Hybrides as a typist/secretary. Gene and Louise enjoyed traveling together. She enjoyed listening to music and loved her flower and vegetable gardens and houseplants. She was a doll and bear collector. Louise was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Louise is survived by her children, Wanda (David) Cusac, Linda Firestine, Lynn E. (Cindy) Firestine all of Findlay, OH, and Connie Alge (Dwight) Nunn of Homestead, FL; grandchildren, Eric E. (Nicole) and Garret Firestine of Findlay, and Nicole (Jim) Beach of Parker, CO; great-grandchildren, Molly Kate, and Carson Firestine of Findlay, OH. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Joe (Lucille) Foster, and Francis Scarr.
Friends and family may visit on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation with Pastor Mark Hollinger officiating. Interment will follow in Bechtel Cemetery, Van Buren, OH. Memorial contributions in Louise's name may be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church, 800 S. Main St., Findlay, OH 45840, or the Hancock County Humane Society, 4550 Fostoria Ave, Findlay, OH 45840, or to the Charity of the donor's choice.
