Edward L. Lowery Jr., 81, of Findlay, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on March 17, 2025. He was born in Findlay, Ohio on August 24, 1943, to the late Edward and Florence (Hartley) Lowery. On January 7, 1965, Edward and Kathlene Kay Lytle, daughter of Raleigh and Helen (Whistler) Lytle got married. They were married 57 years, and she preceded him in death on December 21, 2022.
He attended Fostoria High School before enlisting in the United States Navy and serving our country for 4 years. After returning home, he went to work for Cooper Tire as a tire builder, then shortly after, did maintenance outside and later retired after 34 and a half years.
His favorite pastimes were playing Phase Ten and Yahtzee, attending sprint car races, was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State fan, going hunting with his children and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Edward is survived by his sons, Ed (Becky) Lowery III, and Michael Lowery, both of Findlay as well as Tony Lowery of Kenton; daughter, Julie (Joe) Lord of North Baltimore; brother, Jim Lowery; sister, Diane (Wayne) McClellan; grandchildren, Nicole (Joe) Lowery, Trevor Campbell, Nathaniel Davis, T.J (Alexis) Lowery, Jessica and Josh Striff, Alyssa (Patrick) Patterson, Hannah (Kaleb) Andrus, Austyn (Abby) Webb, Skyler and Jaydan Lowery; great-grandchildren, Emilee and Remi Lowery, Rhett and Olive Lowery, Nevaeh, Dyllon, Bently and Zoey Striff, Rowan Patterson, Karter Andrus, Benjamin Webb, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Harris; sisters, Marianne (Annie) Hoop, Gloria (Jean) Derr, and Patricia (Pat) Thompson; daughter-in-law, Jane Lowery and grandson, Ethan Lord. Friends and family may visit from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500). Funeral service for Edward will begin at 1 p.m. following visitation in the funeral home with Pastor Josh Thilmony officiating. Interment will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery with the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad conducting full military rites.
