Edward E. Myers

February 25, 1959 — June 2, 2024

Alvada

Edward E. Myers peacefully left this world after his fight with cancer on June 2, 2024, at the age of 65.

Ed was born on February 25, 1959, to Earl and Irma Myers of Kansas, Ohio.

After graduating from Lakota High School in 1977, he began working in the Tooling Layout and Inspection Department at Autolite in Fostoria. Upon retirement, he and friend Don Kuhn began their own epoxy flooring business. He then drove for HATS Transportation in Findlay where he found true enjoyment by helping others.

Ed and his wife, Judy, resided in Alvada, Ohio, but they were always on the go traveling to many different places across the US, and to Europe and Asia, on “Ed-ventures.” His most frequented and cherished “Ed-venture” was to Kelley’s Island, which he referred to as “Heaven on Earth.” Everywhere Ed went, he made friends with his infectious personality, genuine kindness, and corny sense of humor. Ed loved life and embraced any new technology that would allow him to capture memories, from the camcorder to the smartphone. Although never given proper credit, he was the creator of the “arm length photo,” or as we know it today, the “selfie.” His playful nature was very fitting for his preference for the Boxer dog breed. He consistently named his Boxer’s “Sam,” because he never wanted to call them by the wrong name. Oftentimes, Ed could be found outside, enjoying gardening, biking, camping, or a round of golf, then ending his day by watching the sunset while listening to Pink Floyd.

Family and friends meant everything to Ed. He adored his wife Judy, was a loving father, and an avid fan of all his grandchildren’s activities and interests. Ed is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis. He is survived by his loving wife Judy; his two daughters, Valerie (Brad) Gnepper and Heather (Greg) Kuhlman; stepson, Mike Fleece (Shanna Brooker); stepdaughter, Amanda (Tim) Wrobleski; grandchildren, Rowan (Collin) Carr, Lyndi, Emma, Alec, Allison, Lauren, and Jacob; sister, Nancy Hovis; brother, Ron (Earlene) Myers; mother in-law, Gerry Fredritz; sisters in-law, Dana Myers, Ruth (Bernie) Gosche, Susie (Jerry) Kelbley, Nancy (Tom) Parker, and Chris (Bob) McConnell; brothers in-law, Dave (Maryann) Fredritz, and Dan (Karen) Fredritz. Ed is also survived by many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.

Ed will be dearly missed by all.

A celebration of his life will be held at The Front 9 (6730 Township Rd 69) Kansas, Ohio, on Tuesday, June 11 from 3-8 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hufford Family Funeral Home in c/o Edward E. Myers to help the family with placing a bench on the entrance of the Scheele Nature Preserve pathway on Kelley’s Island.

And as Ed would say, this is not goodbye, just “bye for now.”
