Frank Edward Kitch, 76, of Findlay, passed away at 6:22 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. He was born on May 25, 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late William E. and Mildred (Reighard) Kitch. Frank married Judy Craig in Lima in 1966 and later divorced. She survives in Findlay.
Frank worked at Phillips in Ottawa, Whirlpool in Findlay, and retired from Laborers' Local Union #329 in Lima where he also served as an election judge many times. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1958 - 1960 before being honorably discharged. He was a life member of AMVETS Post #21 in Findlay for 46 years. Frank was Past Post Commander, winning All State Commander's Award. He also served on the AMVETS State Color Guard from 1973 til 1993. Presently served as Chaplain and Americanism Chairman which he dearly loved.
Frank is survived by his two children, Jeffery Kitch of Findlay, Michelle (Kevin) Kreais of New Lebanon, OH; a step-daughter, Suzanne Straley of Leipsic; his grandchildren, Carleena (Brian) Kingery of Fostoria, Stephanie Kreais of Carey, Jacob Kreais of Findlay, and Jenna (Eric) Coppler of Bowling Green, Amanda (Ryan Stechschulte) Straley of Ottawa, Matthew Straley of Findlay, Meagan, Stephanie, and Andrew Straley all of Leipsic; great-grandchildren, Michael Solarik, Ethan, Ellicia, Ellie Kingery, Dana J. Portensos, Landyn, and Evalynn Stechschulte. He is also survived by a sister, Edna (Carmen) Tasione, and a brother, Don Dixey both of Youngstown; also his companion of 28 years, Sue Thompson. Frank was preceded in death by a son, Michael F. Kitch.
The family would like to extend a big thank you to the staff on the 5th floor, the I.C.U. Unit, and the Emergency Room at Blanchard Valley Hospital, as well at Hanco for the compassionate care during Frank's journey.
Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Klausing will officiate. Memorial contributions in Frank's name may be made to the AMVETS Post #21, 423 W. Trenton Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840.
