With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gerald John Borer of Findlay, known to all as “Jerry,” age 73. Born on January 29, 1951, to George Hugo Borer and Louise Clara Hohman Borer, Jerry grew up in New Riegel, Ohio, where he graduated from New Riegel High School. He was known for his adventurous spirit and deep love for nature, which shaped much of his life.
Jerry was the proud owner and operator of Millstream Fence and Home Improvement, a business he ran with dedication and hard work, serving his community and building strong connections through his craft. Outside of work, Jerry had a special passion for the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or ice fishing, he found great joy in connecting with nature. His love for photography captured countless memories of his journeys, and he was especially fond of his many trips to Canada, where he made lifelong friends across Ontario. A lover of sports and oldies music, Jerry’s enthusiasm for life was evident to all who knew him.
Jerry was a cherished member of the Findlay Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, where his faith and fellowship were central parts of his life.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Emily (Joseph) George of Forest, as well as his brothers, Ed Borer and Dan Borer, and his sisters, Eileen Schuerman and Diane Borer. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Donald Borer and Thomas Borer; his sisters, Dorothy Kuhn and Nancy Lucius; and his former wife, Cynthia Borer.
A memorial service will be held in Jerry’s honor at 2 p.m. on November 23, at the Findlay Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 9935 OH-12, Findlay, OH 45840-1747. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the worldwide work of Jehovah's Witnesses at donate.jw.org.
Jerry’s life will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all those who shared in his love of the great outdoors. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
