Gerald “Gary” A. Nissley, 85, of Findlay, Ohio, was called to his heavenly home on November 5, 2026. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, Ohio.
Gary was born in Plain City, Ohio, on June 26, 1941, to Eli and Mary Nissley.
Gary attended Goshen College and spent most of his career working in various areas of construction. He also enjoyed running his own mini farm, where he raised emus and horses. An outdoorsman at heart, Gary loved fishing and hunting and took great pride in passing that love along to his children and grandchildren. He was a natural handyman and tinkerer who could fix or creatively rig just about anything around the house. Above all, Gary was deeply devoted to his faith and his relationship with Jesus.
Those left to cherish Gary’s memory are his wife of 61 years, Sharon; his children, Stacy, DeShon, and Ryan (Trista); his grandchildren, Caleb (Holly) Brown, Joseph Patterson, Noah (Victoria) Brown, Breeann (Makenzie) Lauer, Tristan (Emilee) Brown, Ian Nissley, Garrett Lauer, Bentley Nissley, Camden Machuca, and Harleigh Nissley; and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Pauline James, Sharon North, and Stanley (Kristine) Nissley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Wayne (Tina) Nissley.
Gary will be lovingly remembered for his endearing shenanigans and pranks, his commitment to helping those he loved, and his strong belief in his own self-sufficiency. He always said, “If you want something done right, you do it yourself.” An independent thinker until his last days, Gary encouraged his family to never stop asking questions.
Friends and family may visit from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2026, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500), where a time of sharing will begin at 3:30.
