Gilbert John Green, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025, with both of his daughters by his side.
He was originally from the Milwaukee–Janesville, Wisconsin area. Gilbert served in the U.S. Army as a young adult. He later married the love of his life, Wanda Fay, and together they raised two devoted daughters.
Gilbert was a man of curiosity and intelligence, teaching himself countless skills and cultivating a deep love of history and reading. In his younger years, he enjoyed summers spent living aboard his sailboat on Lake Erie. Known affectionately as Papa Gil, he delighted in simple pleasures—walking to the donut shop, surprising his grandchildren with boxes of treats, and having tea parties with them when they were small.
After retirement, Gilbert enjoyed living independently in Bryan, Ohio, but his happiest moments were always with family. His bright blue eyes and humor will be missed and remembered forever.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette (Edmonds) Green and John Green; brothers Tom Green and Jerry Green; and sisters Cynthia Green and Mary Ellen Green.
He is survived by his former wife, Wanda Fay Green (Austin); daughters, Gina Green and Georgia (John) Bindas; and grandchildren, Alexis, Daisy, John, and Joseph Bindas.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Birchaven Village, Brookdale Assisted Living, and Bridge Home Health and Hospice in Findlay—especially Dr. Jacobus, Jackie, Ian, and Paige—for their compassionate care.
HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500) is honored to serve Gilbert’s family.
