Gloria J. Vasquez, 76, of Findlay, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on September 14, 1949, in Crystal City, Texas, to Daniel Maldonado and Maria (Tamez) Maldonado. In 1964, Gloria married Eduardo “Ed” A. Vasquez, and they shared 25 years of marriage.
Gloria dedicated much of her life to public service. She worked for the State of Ohio for over 25 years, serving with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections and later with the Ohio Department of Public Safety (BMV). Earlier in life, she also worked in the fields and spent 25 years with Marathon. Her commitment to helping others extended far beyond her career.
A devoted volunteer, Gloria gave her time and heart to many organizations, including the Red Cross, where she assisted in disaster relief efforts across the country, including responses to 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, to name a few. She also volunteered with Divine Mercy Ministries, the Justice League of Ohio, the Tandana Foundation, and the Transitional Education Program.
In 2009, Gloria was honored as one of only four recipients of the Paul Harris “Service Above Self” Award by the Columbus Rotary Club, a testament to her lifelong dedication to serving others. She was nominated by Hope Taft, wife of former Ohio Governor Bob Taft, and worked alongside her to help implement resiliency programs in several Ohio prisons.
Gloria was a woman of deep faith and was affiliated with Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, Ohio, and Our Lady of Guadalupe. She loved her dogs dearly, cherished her family, and especially treasured time spent with her sisters.
Gloria was a world traveler who never met a stranger. Her warmth, kindness, and ability to connect with others left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Edward Vasquez Jr., Maria Elena “Marie” Reinhart, and Robert (Kerri) Vasquez. She was a proud grandmother of Joseph “Nate” (Becky) Reinhart, Danielle Reinhart, Brandon (Justice), Rileigh, Evan, and Cruz Vasquez; and a loving great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. Gloria is further survived by her siblings, Otila Sanchez, Daniel Maldonado, Beatrice Gonzales, and Armando Maldonado. As well as playing a motherly and aunt-like role to many others whose lives she touched.
Gloria was preceded in death by her, parents; former spouse, Eduardo A. Vasquez; and her sister, Maria Erlinda “Linda” DeLaRosa.
