Findlay

James “Jim” Carey Manges, 80, of Findlay, peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

He was born June 7, 1946, in Bluffton, Ohio, to George Washington and Mabel Celeste (Steiner) Manges. Jim was first married to Darlene (Barger) Manges who preceded him in death. He later married Susan (Rohrer) Numbers in 2005, and she survives him in Findlay.

A 1964 graduate of Liberty-Benton High School, Jim enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1965 and served for six years before receiving an honorable discharge in 1971. Following his military service, he began a career with Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, where he worked as a tire builder for 41 years before retiring.

From his youth Jim farmed the family farm with his brothers. Later he also treasured the time he spent raising and caring for his family. Jim was a man of deep faith and attended Abiding by Faith Assembly Church in Findlay. He found great joy in gardening, growing a variety of vegetables and flowers, and was especially proud of his many beautiful hybrid roses. Jim looked forward to yearly vacations in southwest Florida with Darlene and the family. Later in life, he greatly enjoyed cruises and traveling, and spending special times with his wife Susan, and her family.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his children from his marriage to Darlene, Christine Manges (Jeff Clasman), Sarah (Manges) Lowery (Michael Edward “Ed” Gorney), and Benjamin (Margaret Austin) Manges; stepchildren with Susan, Todd (Alisia) Numbers, Tim Numbers (Holly Ferra), and Steve Numbers; grandchildren, Nathaniel B. Davis, Morgan Manges, and Braxton Manges; eight step-grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. In addition, he is also survived by his siblings, John S. (Anna Rae Caraway) Manges, David G. Manges, and Charles B. Manges.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Darlene; and four children, Cynthia Ann, James Joseph, Ruth Ann, and Beth Ann Manges.

Services will be held privately with Pastor Michael Greene presiding. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Bluffton where military rites will also be conducted.
