Janet Ann Cox, 84, of Findlay, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Bridge Hospice Care Center. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, faithful parishioner, and friend, Janet lived a life marked by unwavering faith, service to others, and a deep love for family. Her warmth, generosity, and gentle encouragement touched generations.
Born on April 27, 1942, in Columbus, Janet Ann Snyder was the daughter of John and Nellie (Landman) Snyder. She grew up in Columbus surrounded by a large and loving family and carried those strong family values throughout her life. It was there that she met the love of her life, Wayne A. Cox. The couple married on August 31, 1963, beginning a loving partnership that would span decades and create a family that became Janet’s greatest joy.
Janet and Wayne eventually made their home in Findlay, where they raised their six children and became active members of the community. Although Findlay became her cherished hometown, she maintained deep roots and treasured connections with her extended family in Columbus throughout her life.
Over the years, Janet worked in a variety of roles, including serving as a secretary at the Ohio State House, working as a bank teller, serving as a lunch cashier at St. Michael’s, and preparing taxes. Yet her most important calling was caring for her family. She created a home filled with faith, laughter, compassion, and unconditional love.
A faithful member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Janet’s Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and was actively involved in parish ministries, church organizations, and Eucharistic Adoration, a devotion she rarely missed. Her faith guided her daily actions and inspired a lifetime of service to others.
Those who knew Janet remember her as someone who always made room for one more person at the table and always willing to help a friend in need. She was a fierce advocate for those facing hardships and never hesitated to offer encouragement, practical help, or a listening ear. Her kindness and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Janet also expressed her love through baking. Gatherings she hosted were made sweeter by the treats she lovingly prepared and shared. She found joy in creating special moments for family and friends and had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved. Children held a particularly special place in her heart, and she delighted in encouraging and supporting young people throughout her life.
Janet is survived by her children, Ralph (Vicky) Cox of Lambertville, Michigan, Mary Jane (Michael) Van Schoyck of North Baltimore, Theresa Cox of Findlay, Anne (Edd) Hill of Tucson, Arizona, Alice (Kevin) Grohoske of Hoover, Alabama, and Philip (Lore) Cox of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Janell, Deven, Sophie, Izack, Lona, Monica, Amy, Anthony, John, Josh, Danielle, Emilee, Ashlee, Duayne, Christian, Katelyn, Trinity, Brendan, and Greyson; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Helen, Sister Regina (Order of St. Francis), Tony, Paul, Kathy, and Eileen. She is also survived by her dear friend, Martina Barrett, whose companionship, shared service in church ministries and Guadalupe choir, volunteer work, and many dinners together brought Janet great comfort and joy, especially following Wayne’s passing.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne A. Cox; her parents, John and Nellie Snyder; and her siblings Mary, John, Donny, Pat, George, Mike, and Tom.
