Jay A. Okuly

Jay Arthur Okuly, 73, of Arlington, passed away January 22, 2025, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

Jay was born in Findlay to Paul A. and Bernice A. (Kersh) Okuly on August 25, 1951. He married Jeannette Rice in 1971, and she survives

Jay was a member of the So-Han-Co Sportsman Club for over 40 years. Jay’s many hobbies included NASCAR, his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt. Many trips were taken to Michigan International Speedway, where the phrase “The van waits for NO man” came into existence. Jay loved deer hunting with his friends and family. He also had a love of country music, his favorites being Alabama and Alan Jackson. Jay could never sit still, and he was always out tinkering with something in his garage. Jay loved his family deeply, starting with his wife Jan of 53 years. He also loved keeping “tabs” on all the neighborhood goings-on and loved to talk about it. Jay was truly a one-of-a-kind man, and his love, personality, and wit will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, Jay is survived by his two children, Jeanna (Kevin ) Wehrle and Jason (Amy) Okuly; grandchildren, Zachary (Adrionna) Wehrle, Brandon Wehrle, Maggie Wehrle, Alivia (Lane) Nitchie, Jacob Okuly, and Jesse Okuly; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Jim (Marsha) Okuly; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as being an honorary grandpa to his favorite neighborhood little girls.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents; sister Judy (Jim) Lord; brother and sister-in-law, Sue and Bill Cline, and Bradley Rice.

A celebration of life will be held February 22, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the So-Han-Co Sportsman Club, 10560 Township Road 31, Arlington, OH 45814. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500), is honored to serve Jay’s family.
