Jay Clarence Pilcher, 74, of Findlay, passed away July 4, 2024, at The Heritage.
He was born in Findlay to George and Dora (Downs) Pilcher on January 3, 1950.
Jay was one of the most dedicated and hard-working man ever! He spent his whole life working on cars for pleasure. He was employed over the past 4 decades at Hyway Trucking. He was instrumental in their growth and making sure the shop was managed with pride.
Jay spent half his life as a Racer. He raced go-karts, every Stock and Sprint class available at multiple tracks. He even at one point dragged raced a snowmobile in the summer. Jay will always be known as Findlay’s original #63. His passion later in life was Volkswagens. Jay knew about every vintage V.W in Findlay. He was the master restorer, and he took all his knowledge with him.
Jay is survived by his loving children, Jody (Eric) Giesey of Findlay, Jamie Pilcher (Myra VanAtta) of Vanlue, and Casey J. Pilcher of Findlay; six beloved grandchildren, Carson Pilcher, Caleb Pilcher, Maisi Pilcher, Brandi Feeney, Paige Brodine, and Carson Brodine; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Darlene (Denny) DeSalve of Findlay, and Carl Mericle of Newport News, VA.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Mericle, and Darl Mericle.
