Jerry E. Peterson 67, of Vanlue, passed away at his residence on Friday, February 26, 2016. He was born on July 13, 1948 in Bluffton, OH to the late Robert and Clova (Kennedy) Peterson. Jerry retired from the City of Findlay after 30 years of service. Recently he had worked with the Ohio State Park's Division. Jerry was a Special Deputy with the Hancock County Sheriff's Department for 20 years, a past Auxiliary Officer with the Findlay Police Department, a past member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, an avid shooter, a member of the "Friends of Van Buren State Park", and most of all he had a great passion for his horses. Jerry is survived by his wife, Patricia (Downing) Peterson; children, Jerry L. (Jennifer), James, and William (BJ) Peterson, Michael (Terri) Hampshire, Michelle (Chad) McComas, Jason (Amber) Brenneman, and Curtis (Amanda) Brenneman; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, John (Roberta) Peterson; sister-in-law, Alva Peterson; and former spouses, Connie (Hile) Stockdale and Judith (Decker) Peterson. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Robert Peterson; and a sister, JoAnn Willier Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Van Horn Cemetery in Amanda Twp. Memorial contributions in Jerry's name may be made to the Van Buren State Park Horseman's Camp.
