Jesus T. Vela Sr.

Jesus Trevino Vela Sr, 82, of Findlay, peacefully passed away, August 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in San Benito, Texas to Esteban and Dolores (Trevino) Vela Sr, on August 21, 1942. On April 12, 1965, Jesus married Marta B. Hernandez, and she proceeded him in death in 2020.

Jesus was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish. He was the owner of Vela Rubbish Hauling, which was established in the 1970's. Jesus was a devoted father, grandfather, a loving husband, and a loyal friend to many. Jesus could fill up a room with smiles and laughter. He accepted everyone for who they were and never judged anyone. Jesus was always a person you could count on and never hesitated to help anyone in need.

Jesus’s favorite pastimes included listening to Tejano music, dancing, and playing dice. His Legacy will never be forgotten. Jesus will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Jesus survives by children, Dolores Wolford (Matt Siferd), Jesus T. Vela Jr, Mary Vela-Blanton (Josh Puchta), Ruben (Erica) Vela, Rosalinda (Bobby) Baty; 8 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Jesus was blessed with a loving relationship with his granddaughter Jessica Palacios. She went above and beyond to provide him with outstanding care and support. Additionally, Jesus is survived by his siblings, Elida (Luis) Copado, Blanca Banuelos, Elva V. Munoz, Esteban (Joyce) Vela Jr; stepson, Ronaldo Hernandez; and son-in-law, Kevin Wolford.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jesus was preceded in death by his grandson, Kevin C. Wolford; brothers, Eduardo Vela and Abraham Vela Sr; sisters, Corina Munoz and Rafaela V. Hernadez.

Friends and family may visit from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500) with an evening Rosary service at 6:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 750 Bright Rd., Findlay. Fr. Melwyn Menezes will preside. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
