Joe Bert Fish, 87, of Findlay, passed away peacefully August 6, 2018 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center. He was born February 1, 1931 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Albert and Verma (Oman) Fish. On July 4, 1956, he married Mary Martha (Martie) Zuercher who survives. They recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Joe graduated from Findlay High School in 1949 and attended Findlay College. He served in the Korean War where he was a paratrooper making over 200 jumps. One of his proudest moments was marching as an honor guard in President Eisenhower's inaugural parade. Joe was a member of College First Church of God for over 50 years where he served as a Trustee and an usher. He started Bigelow Glass in 1969 with his brother, Lerse Fish, became sole owner in 1974, and retired in 1995. Joe loved camping, Dietsch's milkshakes, and his grandkids!
Joe is survived by his two sons, Jay and Jeff (Jenny) both of Findlay; six grandchildren, Jessica Mitchell (Kevin Kendzierski), Tyler (Kimberlee) Fish, Katie (Brian) Smith, Anne (Blaine) Wells, Laura (Robbie) Rucki, and Jana Fish; and eight great-grandchildren, Hallie and Mylie Mitchell, Macklain and Miranda Smith, Gavin and Brynn Wells, Elliot and Lillian Fish. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Betsy Steiner and Ellen Fish; and many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Lerse Fish; and sister, Jean Grubb.
Joe's body was donated to The Ohio State University for medical research. A celebration of his life will be held at College First Church of God on Saturday, August 18 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Welker officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. prior the service at the church. Casual attire is encouraged as lunch will follow at the pond that he loved and care for since 1963.
