John W. Badgett, Jr., 75, of Findlay, peacefully passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center. He was born to John W. and Mary C. (Music) Badgett on March 3, 1943 in Floyd County, Kentucky. His father, mother and brothers, James and Oscar, preceded him in death.
John is survived by his wife, L. Elaine (Van Atta) Badgett; step-children, Daniel (Michelle) Van Atta, David Van Atta, and Dennis (Mindy) Van Atta, as well as step-granddaughters, Autumn, Brittanee, Monica and Felicia; and step-grandsons, Zachary, Timothy and David. Sisters who survive John are, Ms. Claudie Heminger of Rawson and Mrs. Mary (Bill) Stimmel of Tallahassee, FL, along with brothers, Dennis (Jackie) Badgett of Bluffton and Bill (Linda) Badgett of Findlay. In addition there are many surviving nieces and nephews.
John attended Findlay High School and was a carpenter by trade, building many homes in the Findlay area while working for Courtney Construction. He also worked for Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria, Ohio. John enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, visiting with family and friends and in his younger days, playing cards.
Friends and family may visit on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the conclusion of visitation in the funeral home. George Molina, Minister, will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
