John "Poppy" C. Hahn

John Carroll Hahn, 67, of Findlay, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on April 7, 2020. He was born in Aiken, South Carolina on March 15, 1953. He graduated from Findlay High School, the class of 1971. On October 9, 1971, John married Ruth Ann (Rodman) Hahn at Good Hope Lutheran Church. Theirs was a “first love and only love match”. They traveled to all 50 states, Mexico and Canada, visiting most of the National Parks along the way.

John was known as “Poppy” to his family. He loved them all and made sure that there were plenty of adventures for everyone. Boating on Lake Erie, fishing anywhere there were fish to be caught and attending Lindsay’s softball games were just part of the “Poppy Experience”. John retired from driving for H.A.T.S. and previously worked at Jac & Dos for twenty years. In retirement he enjoyed daily contact with his family and visited his Dad at The Heritage six days a week. Poppy created beautiful flower gardens at his homes. He was a self-taught musician playing the piano, harmonica, and flute. John was a kind, thoughtful man who loved the Lord.

John is survived by his wife Ruth Ann; daughters, Carrie McKee and Angela Hahn; grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica) McKee and Lindsay (Kevin) Williams; great-grandies, Lily Rayne, Kyleigh Nicole, Logan Ryan, Jack Nathan, Macie Layne, and Bree Lynn. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathleen (Albert) Hawkins of Kansas City, Sharon (Roy) Hassell of San Diego, Janet (Tom) Gohlke of Boise, and Linda (Alan) Young; brother-in-law, Steve (Kathy) Rodman; sister-in-law, Amy (Doug) Wingate; and his father, Rollie Hahn, all of Findlay.

John is now walking with his dear mama Ruth Sturgeon Hahn and fishing with his best buddy grandson Nathan McKee.

A private graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will announce a “Celebration of Poppy’s Life” for the family and friends at a later date. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in his honor.
