John J. O'Leary, 97, of Findlay, passed away March 13, 2017 at Fox Run Assisted Living. Born Easter Sunday, April 20, 1919, in Monona, Iowa to the late James and Elizabeth (Barry) O'Leary. Preceded also in death by his sister, Irene O'Leary.
John was a devout Catholic and member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish. Known for his Irish tenor voice, he sang in the church choir and for area rest homes to enjoy. Most of his working life was spent in farm implement retail. He retired from Reserve Life Insurance Company and moved to Findlay from Boca Raton, Florida about 18 years ago. John proudly served his country in the US Navy serving in WW II before being honorably discharged.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 750 Bright Rd, Findlay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. following visitation at the church. Monsignor Michael Hohenbrink will celebrate the Mass. Burial will take place at a later date in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Pompano Beach, Florida. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's name may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Parish.
