John A. Sanchez

April 10, 1947 - Dec. 18, 2016 John Alfonso Sanchez, 69 and of El Monte, California, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016 after being struck by a car as he was walking home from grocery shopping. He was rushed to Los Angeles County & USC Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries later that night. He was born April 10, 1947 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Matias Sanchez Jr., who preceded him in death on March 8, 2015, and Maria R. (Martinez) Sanchez, who preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 1985. John attended St. Michael's School and graduated from Findlay High School. On September 12, 1967 he was drafted as a US Army Engineer and served until September 18th 1970 and honorably discharge in Fort Hood Texas where he met his wife Linnea who was originally from Arcadia California. They moved to Monrovia California where they raised three girls. He pursued a career in commercial and residential construction and eventually retiring as an International Tractor Trailer Driver. John is survived by his three daughters, Lisa Sanchez of Pomona, California, Christa Sanchez of Irvine, California, and April (Lewis Cornell) Sanchez, both of Fullerton, California; his sister Adelita (Edward) Flores, and his brothers Ralph and Rick (Cathy) Sanchez all of Findlay, Ohio; and his brothers Arnie (Deb) Sanchez of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Jesus (Robyn) Sanchez of Fostoria, Ohio, and Rene (Doreen) Sanchez of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel and Vanessa Gallegos of Pomona, California, and Hunter and Sophia Cornell of Fullerton, California, as well as 15 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his stepmother, Martha "Marty" M. (Pfeifer) Sanchez on Sept. 20, 2012. The family would like to send a special thanks to all of those who made a donation to help bring John home. Friends and family may visit HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Road, Findlay, Ohio (419-422-1500), from 1 - 3 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 where a Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. A Catholic mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 617 West Main Cross Street, Findlay, Ohio on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. The burial will follow immediately after mass at St. Michael Cemetery with the Hancock County Veteran's Memorial Squad performing full military rites. Lunch provided at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 701 W. Main Cross afterwards.
