John H. Wittenmyer

April 1, 1926 — February 14, 2017

John H. Wittenmyer 90, of Arlington, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. John was born on April 1, 1926 in Mt. Blanchard, Ohio to the late George and Martha (Robinson) Wittenmyer. John married Janice (Ralston) on November, 14, 1952 and she preceded him in death. John served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 50 after many years of service. John was a lifetime member and past trustee of the Howard United Methodist Church. He enjoyed raising and racing pigeons, loved gardening, and fixing anything that needed fixed. . John is survived by his children, John (Penny), Jeff (Pam), and Jim Wittenmyer, Jayne Berger, and Joyce (Dwight) Motter; 9 grandchildren, Jason and Jared Motter, Jessica Hart, Heidi Smith, Melanie Vanderende, Jennifer Wilcox, and Jeremy, Toni, and Nick Berger; 14 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Kinsey, and Natalie Motter, Hannah Hart, Madison, Tyler, Logan, Camryn Vanderende, Jayla and Riley Smith, Jordan and Emma Wilcox, and Hailey and Blake Berger; sister, Julia (Robert) Wilson; brother-in-law, Douglas (Sharon) Ralston; and close canine buddy "Abby". John was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jill Fritz, brothers, William and Bobby Wittenmyer, and sisters, Mary Haley and Jeanne Wolford. Friends and family may visit on Friday, February17, 2017 from 1:00 - 3:00 and 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor David To officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Ridge Cemetery with the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad presenting full military rites. Memorial contributions in John's name may be made to Howard United Methodist Church.
