Kala R. Athey

Beloved mother, daughter, and sister, Kala Renee Athey, 41, of Findlay, peacefully passed away April 25, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was born to Russell L. Walters, Jr. and Susan M. (Mimna) Brown on December 1, 1975 in Baltimore, Maryland. Kala graduated from Glen Burnie High School in Maryland and attended Rhodes State College. She enjoyed baking, was a fantastic cake decorator, and loved to dance. Kala is survived by her parents; son, Jason Quade of Prince Fredrick, Maryland; daughters, Chelsey Athey of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Kristina Athey of Columbus Grove, Ohio. She is also survived by her brother, Anthony Walters of Findlay, Ohio; and sisters, Misti Walters of Pasadena, Maryland, Valerie Castle of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Kelly Stevens of Hanover, Maryland. Friends and family may visit on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation at the funeral home. Chaplain Kathy Fenimore will officiate. Memorial contributions in Kala's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
