Kathleen O. “Katie” Heydinger Gates, 79, of Findlay, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was born August 29, 1942, in Shelby, Ohio, to the late Ralph C. and Rosella (Missler) Heydinger. On June 12, 1965, Katie was married to John C. Gates who preceded her in death September 20, 2005.
Katie graduated from Shelby Senior High School, Shelby, Ohio and retired from Norwalk Furniture Corporation in Norwalk, Ohio. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years, sang in the Funeral Choir, and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies. She was also a dedicated blood donor and over the years, she had donated 40 gallons of blood in her lifetime! Even in death, Katie was a blessing to others thru organ and tissue donations. Always thinking of others.
Katie is survived by her daughter, Sally J. (Rodney) Griffin, of Findlay; son, Joseph J. (Cindy) Gates of Tennessee; beloved grandchildren, Katie, and Matthew Griffin, Michael, and Shelby Gates; and brother, Clayton Heydinger. Katie was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Heydinger.
Calling hours for Katie will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 10 – 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 750 Bright Rd, Findlay, Ohio 45840, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. by Fr. Peter Grodi as officiant. Memorial donations may be made to Chopin Hall or Hope House, both of Findlay. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with the arrangements.
