Ladonna E. Smalley

LaDonna Elizabeth (Hammer) Smalley, 87, of Findlay, passed away peacefully January 16, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care Center. She was born July 25, 1934, in Fostoria to Clarence J. Hammer and Eunice I. (Penn) Hammer Orwick. LaDonna married Richard W. Smalley and he preceded her in death.

LaDonna was a Fostoria High School graduate class of 1952. She enjoyed gardening, eating out, going to the casino, finding bargains at garage sales, and was an avid QVC shopper. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune at 7 p.m. faithfully. LaDonna was a homemaker as well as a foster parent for over 20 years. Not only did she care for her own children, but she also took in and cared for many children over the years. She was a life member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion.

LaDonna is survived by her daughter, Linda S. (Scott) Hagerman of Findlay; five grandchildren, Jamison (Jamie), Stacy (Doug Baker), both of Findlay, Chad (Janice) of Cincinnati, Bobbi Jo Altman of Carey, and Jennifer Smalley of Englewood; twelve great-grandchildren, Alysha, Michael, McKenna, Katie, Javen, Tyler, Alex, Shannon, Sterling, Levi, Rebecca, and Kristen; and twenty-eight, great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Earl T. (MaryLou “Crickett”) Hammer; daughter-in-law, Terri Smalley; and a special friend of the family, Larry Sherman. LaDonna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; son, Steven W. Smalley; and brothers, Clarence, Clyde, Owen, Fred, Bernard, Charles, Gerald, and Alton (Tub).

Friends and family may visit from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). LaDonna’s funeral service will begin at 12 noon following visitation in the funeral home with Pastor Josh Thilmony officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions in LaDonna’s name may be made to the family in c/o Hufford Family Funeral Home.
