Marvin Leslie Tate, age 82, of Findlay, went to his heavenly home on October 7, 2022, at Birchaven Village after a long illness. He was born September 19, 1940, in McComb, Ohio to Frank and Ruth (Henry) Tate Jr.
Marvin graduated from McComb High School, Class of 1958 where he played football. The day after graduation, he left for the Marine Corps and then later enrolled in the Army Reserves, serving for a combined total of 33 years. During his time in the military, Marvin traveled to Hawaii, Japan, Okinawa, Honduras, Guatemala, Philippines, and went on a Mediterranean Cruise. Marvin married his high school sweetheart Barbara (Apple) of North Baltimore in 1959 and had celebrated their 63rd anniversary this September.
Marvin was a farmer, millwright, miniaturist, avid scouter, woodworker, and Civil War re-enactor. He loved watching war and western movies and enjoyed listening to country music. Marvin was a member of Living History Findlay Historical Museum, American Legion, National Rifle Association, and Johnson’s Island Civil War Round Table.
Marvin, a devoted family man, is survived by his loving wife Barbara; children, Mark (Tami), Jeff (Sue), Amanda (Rod) Sullivan, and Scott; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Linn (Phyllis) of Findlay, and a sister, Bonnie (Jim, deceased) Fogle of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents.
