Mary Davis

Mary Louise Davis, 85, of Findlay, passed away July 14, 2024, at Birchaven under Bridge Hospice care.

Mary was born in Amherst, Ohio, to Raymond and Wanda (John) Heinzerling on December 13, 1938. She married Carl E. Davis in 1962, and they were married for 54 years when he preceded her in death in 2016.

Mary graduated from Marion L. Steele High School and continued her education, attending Gale Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a member of Park Avenue Methodist Church but in recent years, Mary has attended Findlay First Assembly of God. Mary retired from Oberlin College from the Registrar's office. But the work that meant the most to her was serving as a volunteer at The Armes Family Cancer Center in Findlay.

Mary enjoyed gardening, playing games, birdwatching, shopping, and eating out trying all types of good food. More than anything, she loved spending time with friends and family and going to church. Mary’s favorite saying in her last few years was, “Old age is no fun, before you know it you are done!”

Mary is survived by her children, Mark (Andrea) Davis, and Marla (Robert) Dilts; two grandchildren, Macy (Tony) Rader, and Cole (Karli) Smith; and Titus Rader, her only great-grandson. She is also survived by her siblings, Joann Haskins, Bonnie (Ralph) Gumpf, John (Janet) Heinzerling; sisters-in-law, Letha Davis, and Freda Gilbert; and her friend of five years, Tom MacDonald of Jerry City, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; and brother, Tom Heinzerling; brothers-in-law, Butch Haskins and Dallas Davis; and sister-in-law, Jenny Heinzerling.

Friends and family may visit from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500) where a funeral service will begin at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor Glen Hammons officiating. Mary will be laid to rest beside her husband in Brownhelm Cemetery, 3025 N. Ridge Rd., Vermilion, OH 44089, on Monday, July 22 at 12 noon.
