Michael M. Janton, 74, of Findlay, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. He was born January 20, 1947 in Columbus, OH to the late Robert C. Janton and Marcia R. (Overbeck) Janton Kepley. Mike married Nancy J. (Cline) Janton on December 20, 1975 and she preceded him in death in 2016.

Mike was an Upper Arlington High School graduate and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army for the next 6 years before his Honorable discharge in 1971. He then attended The Ohio State University and eventually took teaching positions in Social Studies, History, Economics, and Government for the next 29 years within Findlay City Schools before retiring. Mike’s passions were researching Civil War and World War II history, visiting armory museums, and studying Native American culture and memorabilia. He enjoyed visiting national parks with his family traveling in their camper, and recently went on a tour of European World War II sites. Upon retirement, Mike devoted much of his time to various hobbies and interests, enjoying building and painting small historical dioramas, watching Ohio State football, and reconnecting with childhood friends. He was an avid reader, often writing for The Courier and various other publications.

Mike is survived by his two daughters, Graciana Janton of Cincinnati, OH and Marciana Janton of Findlay, OH; step-brothers, William Kepley of Richfield, OH, Robert Kepley of Akron, OH, and John Kepley of Seminole, FL; and step-sister, Patricia Wenning of Camarillo, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robin C. Janton; and step-father, George S. Kepley.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Blanchard Valley Medical Associates and Blanchard Valley Hospital for their kind and professional care.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). Visitation will be held from 5:30 – 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Motter officiating. A private family interment will take place on Saturday at Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mike’s name may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at: www.t2t.org, United Service Organizations at: www.uso.org, or American Red Cross at: www.redcross.org.
