Michael E. Wittenmyer, 84, of Rawson, passed away at Blanchard Valley Hospital on May 6, 2025.

He was born in Findlay, Ohio, to James O. and Della E. (Lessig) on June 10, 1940.

Michael graduated from Liberty-Benton High School, where he was active in FFA and football, then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in France during the Vietnam War. Michael married Sharon I. Conrad, who survives, along with their three children.

Michael worked as an electrician in construction and was a member of IBEW Local #8. He held the position of commander at the American Legion Post 3 in Findlay and was a member of the Arlington VFW. Michael served as president and secretary for the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad and was a Rawson council member and mayor for 18 years. He dedicated over 25 years of service as a Rawson volunteer firefighter and chief.

A farmer at heart, Michael enjoyed making things in his woodworking shop. He loved taking many trips to his favorite place in Minnesota and spending time with the coffee clan at the local cafe.

Left behind to cherish Michael’s memory are his loving wife, Sharon; children, Wendy (Jerry) Garmatter, Della Lambert, and Julia DeLaCruz; grandchildren (a source of great pride), Michael, Abigail, Gabby, Olivia, Amos, Grace, and Emma; sister, Dode Swisher; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Barbara Hummel, Steve Wittenmyer, and Linda Kisseberth; and his son-in-law, David DeLaCruz.

Friends and family may visit from 3 - 6 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2025, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500). Michael’s funeral service is at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at the funeral home with Pastor Gregg Fox officiating. Military honors for Michael will be rendered by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.

Memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be made to Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad or Tunnel to Towers (www.t2t.org) or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
