With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of R. Ronald Monday on July 23 at 3:29 p.m. We rejoice in the knowledge that he was greeted by Jesus with “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
He was born in Findlay on May 2, 1943, to Ralph and Verna B. (Inbody) Monday. Ron married Vicky Lynn Hall on August 4, 1962, and they were married for 62 years.
Ron was a City of Findlay Police Officer for almost 29 years, retiring as a Detective Lieutenant in 1994. He also ran a basic police school for many years. Ron was also the Findlay High School security supervisor from 1998 to 2012. He served on the city council as a ward representative for 20 years and as council president for 2 years, even including a 5-week period of acting mayor.
Ron was a member of First United Brethren Church serving as Missions Chairman and Missions President. He was also a member of Fort Findlay F.O.P. Lodge #20, served as Chairman and Registrar at Camp ECCO, and held membership in several organizations, including the Lions Club, Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, and Findlay Moose Lodge #698.
He loved sports and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Detroit Tigers fan. Ron loved to travel and spent 35 years vacationing in Arizona. Each morning, he met with a group of men at Tim Horton’s to enjoy coffee and conversation. He also volunteered for many years at the Salvation Army soup kitchen. Ron really enjoyed meeting new people and consistently sought opportunities to assist others.
Above all, Ron enjoyed nothing more than being with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Vicky; his daughter, Laurie L. (Kenneth) DeMuth of Findlay; three grandchildren, Mackenzie L. (Brandon) Shanahan of Pearland, TX, Madison P. (Keaton) Scarlett of Palm Harbor, FL, and Micah J. (Noelle) DeMuth of Ft. Eustis, VA; and three great-granddaughters, Delaney, Margot, and Molly Shanahan. He is also survived by his bother, Dean Monday of Fostoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jeffrey Monday and Timothy Monday; and his brother, Don Monday.
