Ralph Eugene “Gene” Lauck, 78, of Findlay, peacefully passed away January 25, 2025, with his loving family by his side at Bridge Hospice Care Center.
He was born October 8, 1946, in Findlay, Ohio, to Ralph E. and Frances (Peg) Lauck.
Gene was married to his wife Wilma for 55 years, the love of his life. He also had many friends from his high school and college days who he remained friends with his entire life. Gene was a people person who truly cared for others and never met an enemy. He was a dedicated worker who worked for Key Bank for 36 years. He started with Key Bank in Cleveland and spent 9 years there until returning to the Findlay area where he spent the remainder of his career. He was the manager for the Eastside branch when he retired.
Gene had a deep love for sports, particularly basketball, which originated from his time playing for Riverdale High School and Findlay College. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with family and friends, vacationing, playing cards at card club and watching and attending sporting events. Gene continued to pour his love of sports into his children and grandchildren attending all their events at Arlington, Liberty Benton and University of Findlay. He regularly attended the University of Findlay basketball games and watched The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns.
Gene and Wilma spent much of their time with family at their lot in Nugent’s Canal in Port Clinton. They enjoyed camping, boating, and enjoying the lake. He taught his kids how to ski on the Portage River and was an avid fisherman. He continued to instill his love for the lake in his children and grandchildren and made countless memories on the lake.
Those left behind to cherish Gene’s memories are his loving wife, Wilma; children, Melissa “Missy” (Patrick) Masterlasco of Findlay, and Anthony “Tony” Lauck (fiancé, Christy Santistevan) of Findlay; grandchildren, Samantha (Scott) Wallace of Findlay, Mitchell Rhodes, of Findlay, Alec (Lydia) Rhodes of Indianapolis, OH, Alissa Rhodes of Findlay, Colton Lauck of Arlington, Spencer Lauck of Arlington; step-grandchildren, Anthony Masterlasco of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Adrienne Masterlasco of Columbus, Gianna Masterlasco of Columbus, Lindsay Geiser of Perrysburg, Zach Geiser of Findlay, and Kiley Geiser of Findlay. Gene is also survived by his brother, David “Dave” (Cathy) Lauck of Fostoria.
In addition to his parents Ralph and Frances, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert “Rob” Lauck in August of 2006.
Friends and family may visit from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2025, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500). Gene’s funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, January 31 in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Klausing officiating. Interment will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery.
