Ralph E. Miles

Ralph E. Miles, 89, of Findlay, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. He was born on February 3, 1927 to the late George C. and Hazel Marie (MacMurray) Miles. Ralph married Phyllis A. (Miller) Miles on September 4, 1959. Ralph proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII from 1944 - 1946 before being honorably discharged. He worked as an electrician for various companies, including 20 years of service at Findlay Electric/McNaughton McKay. Ralph was a member of the College First Church of God and an original participant of the Emmaus walk community. He also owned Smiley's Sugar glazed popcorn for 35 years and was known as the "Candy Man". He had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying for many years. Survivors include his loving wife, Phyllis, of 56 years; children, Ronald E. (Debi) Miles, Deana M. Miles, Angie L. (Randy) Wolford, and Stacy (Nick) Christian; 12 grandchildren, Bryan (Ann Marie), Bridget (Armando), Kim, Collin, Amanda, Josh, Megan, Jacob (Danni), Jaeda (Kenny), Jason (Emily), Elizabeth, and Cali; 6 great-grandchildren, Aleah, A.J., Kyle, Haidyn, Baileigh, and Otto; brother, Jerry (Judy) Miles; and sister, Helen (Larry) Karch. Ralph was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, Richard, Dale, George P. Jr.; and sisters, Martha Miles, Sarah Altman, and Marie Cole. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 4 - 8 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4 at College First Church of God with Pastor Dave Welker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (12 noon - 1:00 p.m.) at the church. Interment will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Ralph's name may be made to the Bridge Home Health & Hospice or The Gideons International.
