Raymond S. Shank

Raymond S. Shank, 85, of Liberty Township Findlay, Ohio, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Richmond Heights, Ohio. He was born December 26, 1931 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Ralph D. and Dortha M. (Flick) Shank. Raymond was a 1949 graduate of Liberty Township School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 - 1955 before being honorably discharged. After earning his bachelor's and master's degrees from The Ohio State University, Raymond worked and earned his doctorate in organic chemistry in 1961. He was a longtime member of The Ohio State Buckeye Club and a lifetime member of The Ohio State Alumni Club. His entire employment experience was spent with the Sohio Oil Company and the BP Company as a research chemist. While working there he met his companion of 45 years, Judy Stuchul. Upon retirement, he spent time gardening and traveling to Hawaii. Raymond is survived by his brother, Norman (Susan) Shank of Findlay, Ohio. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joan Shank of Hamilton, Ohio, and preceded in death by brother, Robert Shank. Raymond is also survived by nephews, Rob (Lynn) Shank of Cincinnati, OH, Dr. John (Claudine) Shank of Colorado Springs, CO, and J.R. Shank of Hamilton, OH; nieces, Katie (John) Costantini of Chicago, IL, and Mary Churchill of Lewis Center, OH; and nine grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation with Pastor Ben Borsay officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery.
