Findlay

Scott Allen Gray, 64, of Findlay, Ohio, passed away on September 30th, 2026, leaving behind a family and community made richer by his kindness, humor, faith, and friendship.

Scott was born in Pemberville, Ohio, a place he proudly referred to as “the center of the universe,” to James G. and Mary (Welly) Gray. It was there that many of the things he would carry throughout his life first took root: family, hard work, business, golf, and a lifelong love of Lake Erie.

Scott attended Marietta College, where he played on the golf team and met his wife, Jackie Quinn. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, fun, friendship, and an appreciation for the simple beauty of everyday life.

Scott began his career as a petroleum engineer with Marathon Offshore before returning to Northwest Ohio to join Gray Printing Company in Fostoria, the family business founded by his great-grandfather in 1888. Scott worked in sales and later served as Vice President and proudly carried on the family tradition of quality craftsmanship, creativity, and business leadership.

Later in life, Scott became a certified business coach, helping area businesses and leaders grow. He had a natural gift for listening, asking thoughtful questions, seeing potential in people, and encouraging them to pursue their ideas and goals.

Scott was also deeply involved in his community in Findlay, Ohio. Over the years, he served and participated in organizations including Rotary, the local arts community, Mazza Gallerie, and the board of Blanchard Valley Hospital. With his outgoing personality and seemingly endless circle of friends, his family affectionately considered him Findlay’s “unofficial mayor.”

As a lifelong Boy Scout and Eagle Scout, Scott volunteered with the Black Swamp Area Council for more than 30 years in various capacities as area commissioner, summer camp counselor, and board member. He was passionate about helping young people develop leadership, confidence, outdoor skills, and a commitment to serving others.

Faith was also an important part of Scott’s life. He was active in Celebrate Recovery and New Life Assembly of God, where he found a meaningful community that remained important to him through the end of his life.

Those who knew Scott will remember a man who never met a stranger. He was gentle, kind, funny, charismatic, openhearted, and down to earth. He greeted people with a big bear hug, loved making others laugh, and could move easily from a joke to a deep conversation. Above all, he listened. He made people feel heard, welcomed, and encouraged.

Scott loved his family deeply. With Jackie and their children, Quinn and Hannah, he created a life filled with good food with good friends, traveling to new places, boating, trips to Cedar Point, golfing, cycling, music, and countless evenings watching the sun set over Lake Erie.

He shared his love of golf and cycling with Hannah, participating in the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure for more than a decade, and shared his love of music with Quinn by encouraging his musical talents and attending concerts together.

As a father, Scott was gentle, present, and encouraging. He believed in his children’s dreams and became not only their dad, but their friend. He was also the kind of friend who showed up when someone needed him most.

Scott is survived by his wife, Jackie Gray; children, Quinn Gray and Hannah (Ian) Titcomb; granddaughters, Novalee and Ruby Rose; his sisters, Jane (Gary) Jones of Iowa and Susan (Mike) Rospert of North Carolina; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Mary Welly Gray.

Scott’s legacy lives on in his faith, his family, his friendships, and through the people he encouraged. His simple reminders to show up for one another, pursue meaningful dreams, laugh often, and never be too busy to stop and watch the sunset.

There will be no formal services at this time, and the family will remember Scott privately. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500) is honored to care for Scott and his family.
