Thomas May, a devoted father, brother, son, friend, and steadfast believer in Jesus Christ, passed away, September 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of music, athleticism, deep compassion, and a profound love for his family.
Tom lived entirely for his daughters, Melissa Grandjean (nee May), and Suzanna Jimenez (nee May), as well as his five cherished grandchildren, Zack, Jace, Zara, Ellis, and Matthew, who were the absolute light of his life.
An all-star athlete in his youth, Tom excelled in baseball, basketball, football, and track and field. His natural athletic prowess was legendary, and he proudly holds records to this day at Findlay High School and Messalonskee High School in Oakland, Maine.
Beyond the field, Tom was a remarkably talented musician who specialized in the acoustic guitar. Gifted with an extraordinary ear, he could listen to any song just once, pick up a guitar, and play it to perfection. The timeless sounds of Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Todd Snider, and Neil Young frequently radiated through his home, filling it with warmth and melody.
Tom was also an avid outdoorsman. In his younger years, he spent many treasured hours bow hunting and pheasant hunting alongside his loyal favorite dog, Buster. This deep appreciation for the outdoors extended into a lifelong, unconditional love for all animals, especially dogs, cats, and horses. Animals naturally recognized his heart of gold and were always drawn to him. In later life, Tom found immense joy and purpose in animal rescue, taking it upon himself to rescue, fix, and vaccinate over 30 cats in the span of just ten years.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Melissa (Robert) Grandjean and Suzanna Jimenez; his grandchildren, Zack, Jace, Zara, Ellis, and Matthew; his sisters, Gail Leatherman, Joyce (Paul) Komosinski, and Judy Fagan; his brother, Pete (Sharon) May; stepbrother, Dave Sanders; stepsister, Jackie Beebe; his lifelong best friend since childhood, Chuck Oler; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Anna Sanders and Herman May; his stepfather, Ash Sanders; his twin brother Timothy; brothers Dave, and Danny May; brother-in-law, Don Fagan.
The family has chosen to honor Tom’s life privately, with no formal services at this time. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500) is honored to have been entrusted with the care of Tom and his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
