Shirley J. Wilcox

Shirley Jean Wilcox, 83, of Findlay, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 at The Heritage. She was born on August 19, 1935 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to the late Paul M. and Beulah (Oakley) Dowdy. On November 28, 1953, Shirley married John D. Wilcox and were married for 65 years until his death in 2018. Shirley loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was also a member of Upper Room Church of God. Shirley will be missed by her children, Donald (Kitty) Wilcox of Arlington, Mark Wilcox of Findlay and Janet Hamlin of North Baltimore; grandchildren, Korrie Cole, Bruce Wilcox, Luke Wilcox, Amy Calixto, Joshua VanWormer and Wesley VanWormer; and 16 great-grandchidren. She is also survived by her brothers, Oshay and Roy Lee Dowdy; and a sister, Carol Curry. Shirley was preceded in death by brothers, Donald Ray and Johnny Mack Dowdy; sisters, Pauline Abbott, Helen Branham, Dorothy Brock, and Delores Dowdy. Friends and family may visit on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). In honor of Shirley's life, a memorial service will be held at conclusion of visitation on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Pastor David Price will officiate.
